Miss America 2013 : Mallory Hagan, Miss New York

The Miss America 2013 Pageant will be broadcast live from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. Eastern on Saturday.

Miss America 2013 was the 92nd Miss America pageant held at the PH Live, Las Vegas, Nevada on January 12, 2013. Miss America 2012 winner Laura Kaeppeler from Wisconsin crowned her successor Mallory Hagan from New York. All 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, competed for the prestigious title as the pageant was broadcasted live on ABC across the U.S.[2] The pageant was also simulcasted on ESPN Radio for the first time.

53 contestants (one from each state, plus the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) will compete for the prestigious crown.

Miss America 2013 Winner is Mallory Hagan, Miss New York. She's a 23-year-old who ran for Miss America on a child sexual abuse prevention and managed to come up with a thoughtful response to the question of placing armed guards outside American elementary schools on the spot. Not exactly the topic most of us who avoid pageants (raises hand) expected out of Miss America, but there it was.
